Networking (at AZPM events)

Networking (at AZPM events)

Did you know that all of AZPM's photoshoots double as networking events? Networking is extremely important to the AZPM team as we strive to create an inclusive, safe, and diverse community of creative individuals. So hangout for a bit and let's chat all about networking with other creatives!

Starting the Conversation:

Whether you are a model, a photographer, or a cosplayer, the best way to get started is just by saying "Hi!". Introduce yourself to the people around you and let them know about your goals or wishes for the day. Most people attend events with a concept they'd like to capture and are open to collaborating with others to make their vision a reality.

If you are feeling shy or nervous, reach out to one of the owners (Lex or Amanda) or AZPM's Brand Ambassador, Tae! One of us will happily introduce you to a photographer/model to work with.

For our photographers: Don't be afraid to ask models/cosplayers if they want to shoot with you! It can be intimidating, especially for new models, to approach a photographer for the first time.

For our models/cosplayers: Feel free to use the dressing room as a space for creative collaboration. Utilize the client closet (at Dream Factory) to piece together looks for group shots or help other models find the perfect accessory for an outfit they brought from home. A friendly face and a helping hand go a very long way!

Building Connections:

Once the initial introduction is over, build on that connection! Collaborate with each other, hype up the people around you, and get involved in helping others capture the perfect moment. Some shots need "all hands on deck" to make it happen and those are always some of our favorite moments to witness. If you need help, ask! We are always happy to lend a hand or recruit some extra help whenever its needed!

Remember to have a conversation before you start shooting to discuss how photos will be used and shared and when the model can expect to have edited photos. Want it in writing? Use AZPM's Model Release form and create a copy for everyone involved (all models in photos and photographer/s). This simple conversation protects those involved and sets clear expectations for how the photos will be used.

After the Event:

In the world of social media, the best way to stay in touch is probably Instagram! Exchange socials and follow your new friends! The AZPM community is very active on social media and we love to repost each other! And don't forget, you can pre-plan your content ahead of time! Many of AZPM's established community members collaborate with each other to plan group photos or themed content. AZPM also has a Discord channel dedicated to collaboration and content planning for those interested! If you are new to the community, don't be afraid to share your concepts and invite others to join you! Its a great way to meet new people and work towards a shared goal.

Now that we know a little bit more about networking, its time to get out there and make some connections! See you at the next AZPM event!
