Introduction:

This event is different than other typical AZPM events, this event is based around knowledge, and growing your skills in a hand on learning environment - in small groups. This class will provide a few things: the first is knowledge - This class is lead by a successful model in the industry who has worked with agencies, done freelance model work, and is also internationally published for her craft. She will be sharing with everyone her experiences and knowledge on the industry to give a better understanding about what it means to be a working model. You will in turn be able to use this knowledge to give you an edge in the industry, as well as have a general understanding of what to expect when working in this industry.

You may be asking yourself- is this class for me?

The short answer - is yes! This class is great for all types of models as well as cosplayers. the knowledge of the industry is helpful, even when not working under an agency so that you know how to market, price, and promote yourself as a model - whether you are a model for fun, hobbiest or career - we will be sharing valuable information that can be used at every stage of a models journey. We will also be discussing posing tips, and runway walks which will be great for cosplayers as well for getting the best shots, and videos possible!

The classes will be between 5-10 people large, making it the perfect size for working in small groups, and getting all questions answered effectively. In these small groups we will be covering modeling basics, industry basics, going over posing, runway walks, and more. This is also the perfect opportunity to ask any questions that you may have.

The end portion of the class we will pair you with our in house photographer to get 3-5 headshots that can be used for a comp card (which we will go over in class) This alone is a $300-$800 dollar value.

Etiquette:

There are a couple of things to keep in mind when attending a workshop hosted by AZPM

  • If you aren't early - you're late. Please arrive 10-15 mins early to complete your check in process before the class starts.
  • Arrive hair/make up ready, as well as dressed appropriately for the event.
  • Bring water to stay hydrated, and snacks if you think you may need them during the event

What to wear & Bring:

What to wear:

  • Neutral outfit- either black, white, grey, or nude/beige is usually best. Most people often just wear black. This is going to be preferred for your headshots for your comp card - as you want these to look clean and crisp. Think business casual - you can wear jeans/tshirt, skirt/shirt, dress/jumper, the choice is yours, but we recommend wearing something that makes you feel comfortable, confident, and compliments your body type, and style.
  • For occasions where runway will be involved, bring a pair of neutral heels for women/feminine looks or dress shoes/nice shoes for men/masculine looks, you will want to practice your walks in the shoes most similar to what you will be wearing on the runway. It will be best to practice your poses in these shoes as well, the more you practice the more confident you will be.
  • Hair and makeup- when it comes to hair and makeup, you will want to have a clean, crisp look. Much like your outfit choice, you will not want your hair or makeup to distract from your features. We recommend nude tones for makeup, natural lashes, and overall a natural makeup look. Nothing too dark, or too heavy. If you have permeant make up/ hair extensions/ lash extensions, that is totally okay as well! For hair we recommend clean hair, worn down and styled to your preference. You can straighten, or curl your hair depending on your hair's texture and your personal preference, just keep in mind that you will want to stay as true to your natural look as possible. For more masculine individuals- we recommend styling your hair in a way that compliments your features, and keeps your hair out of your face for photos. Your comp card photos are meant to represent yourself as a canvas for the director's vision, which is why you want to present yourself in a way that allows them to see you as their canvas. Keep in mind you can bring hair ties, etc. to change up your look for some shots to add some versatility!

What to bring:

  • Unlike typical AZPM events, for this you will only need a single outfit. you are welcome to wear either flats to the event, if you choose this option please bring a pair of heels to be able to practice your walks for those who identify as women, or for those who are going for a more feminine look- and for those who identify as men- or for those who are going for a more masculine look- bring dress shoes.
  • WATER!!! whether its 65 degrees or 113 degrees, hydration is important. These workshops do not have refreshments, so please plan to bring your own water.
  • Depending on the duration of the class, you may want to pack a light snack - we recommend something quick, and small such as a granola bar, or some trail mix.
