Creator Spotlight - Meet Billy of Billy.Taylor.Visuals!

Billy is a photographer who has been attending our events since February 2022 - when we hosted our Festival Fashion Photoshoot event. Prior to our events - Billy was already a well established member of the photography community, as he had done many projects with models prior - some of which where at this Festival Fashion event he attended! Billy has been an active photographer since 2018 - making his portfolio well rounded - around our events we refer to him as the "lighting wizard" as it seems no matter the lighting conditions - Billy is able to work with them to create something magical - which is sometimes a challenge for photographers at all skill levels *shivers at thinking about having to shoot in direct sunlight*

Currently Billy's shooting on Sony A7iii, with a Sigma Art 50mm 1.4 lens and he frequently uses a Godox AD200 flash - although we have seen him break out an old fashion reflector when the light is right!

We asked Billy some questions about his favorite types of photos- and here is what he had to say:

Q: What are your favorite things to photograph? (Certain photography styles, products, portraits, etc.)

A: Anything spicy and colorful

Q: Do you have a favorite photoshoot you've done? If so, tell us about it!

A: I can't pick one, there have been so many enjoyable shoots.

Our next topic that we asked Billy about what his inspiration - and where it comes from. Billy tells us about how "Movies are the biggest influence" so he "strives for a very cinematic look" This look is achieved all through out Billy's portfolio as seen across all of his social platforms.

This photo is a great example of the cinematic effect that Billy strives for in his work - the depth of the photo with the single lighting source sets a mood that you can feel through this photo.

The next set of questions we asked Billy was about their experience in photography, and what they had to share with the community- here is the results of that small interview.

Q: What tips do you have for new photographers?

A: Don't be afraid to ask questions to other photographers and models. They may have some useful techniques or perspectives that will really help you on your journey. I've been around so many talented creators and I love picking their brains.

Q: What types of challenges have you had to overcome in your time as a photographer, and how did you overcome that situation? (loss of inspiration, damaged equipment, learning new skills, etc.)

A: Oh!! I'm a bit of an introvert so it's been a process of getting better at contacting/approaching models to do shoots, giving direction during shoots, and knowing how to deal with occasional rejection 😅

Q: Anything else you like to share with us?

A: Remember that photography is a form of expression and try to develop your own unique style that represents you.

Over all, our experience in working with Billy has been an absolute wonderful one! Billy always comes to our events with a friendly smile on his face, a great attitude, and is ready to create some magic! Working with Billy is an absolute pleasure always, and i'm sure our community can agree that its always a joy! Thank you Billy for being such a shining star in our community, and we look forward to the magic we get to create together in the future - as well as the magic you create out on your own journey! The AZPM fam will always back up your creative work!

Highlights we chose from Billy's portfolio, and brief explanations of why we chose these couple of photos to show off:

This photo is a great example of Billy's ability to shoot in low light settings - however, this scenario is a bit more complex than the photo we shared above of Dani - due to having 3 subjects to light! Billy captures all 3 models in an even light that highlights each of them individually- creating that movie magic finish he is known for!
This image Billy captured is another great example of low light situations, however this image also captures Billy's eye for contrasting colors m- which is something that frequently shines through in his work!

Now THIS. THIS is what were talking about when we say Billy is a lighting WIZARD. This photo is a prime example of Billy's ability to shoot in DIRECT sunlight (of which most of us photographers fear) with a result that is absolutely balanced and beautiful. Notice about this photo how the subject (Jev) is positioned so that her body is well lit, but she is still not blinded by the sun - the perfect placement of her body, and the angle of which Billy chose to shoot show off not only the wonderful lighting, but an awesome reflection in the water as well which gives off a cool effect!
